when? where? who? why?
In 2016, women represented 46% of the entry-level position but were only 19% in C-Suite position while men represent 81% of the workers at this level. This underrepresentation of women into top hierarchy position is explained by several factors. Women feel insecure speaking up and giving their opinion, they underestimate their competences while men tend to be more confident and overestimate theirs. In this way, they are less likely to apply for higher positions and people more assertive in their ability to fulfil the job will be favored. The company culture can also be biased and tend to favor men into leading positions.
Even though a common sentence says “If you are in the room for a
meeting, we expect you to speak up. Don’t wait for someone to ask you.”.
It is not always easy to put into practice. Helping women and everybody
in general to speak up and give their opinion will enhance
participation, boost creativity and lead to better meeting outcomes with
balanced decisions enabling company growth and risks restraint.
Several levers can be activated in order to increase women
participation. Empowering them through coaching and mentoring will help
them be more confident and step up. It will decrease limiting belief and
toxic self-talk making them believe they do not deserve their position
and are not the best person for the job. Instead, they will be more
comfortable taking the lead and go for ambitious projects. Also, inform
and train employees about the value of collaboration and how to boost it
will help having everybody's opinion. However, in addition to training,
tools monitoring meetings' participation can be set up to estimate if
men and women speaking time during a meeting is fair.
for whom?
Our target would be companies wishing to ensure equity of speaking time between men and women during videoconference meetings. It can be used during everyday meeting as well as during shareholder and important decision-making meetings to make sure everybody point of view is shared.
It can also be used by every type of organisations such as companies, NGOs and even university students.
We would contact associations fighting for gender equality and who try to employer women to give them a better representation within the company.
Human Resource departments will also be targeted as companies are more and more aware of their social responsibilities.
Moreover, such tools will help companies to identify biases and malfunctions within leadership and communication. Thus they will be able to take actions.
Besides, this service could also be useful for associations wishing to ensure speaking time with a reliable service giving figures that can be easily exploited for statistical studies.
what? how?
We appology in advance as our project is not taking into account gender
diversity and is currently only based on a male/female approach.
The service would work as an API capable of integrating with video conferencing services such as zoom, teams, Google Hangout.
We noticed that for instance Zoom is already telling us who is the person speaking. In this way, they already have the data that we can use to display a dashboard of who talk the most. Meeting participants could enter their gender. A little graph could show during the meeting the global participation between men and women according to the number of people from each gender. Also, a personal graph for every participant could be added, showing them their participation during the meeting. It could encourage persons who do not speak much to speak up and persons that speak a lot to let others express themselves.
Pick images to describe the universe around your service (context,
users, places, techs, …) and name your service accordingly.
Don't try to illustrate the final service that you may have in mind but
instead its context.
This makes us think of the different zoom meetings we have been attending since the beginning of the year. The application would make us think of a stopwatch like a chess game to make sure that the time is well respected. Name for the service = ChronoEquity

This project aims to help women in need in finding suitable accommodations.
Being a homeless woman is undoubtedly a more frightening situation than being a man. The feeling of vulnerability is greater.
Today, many flats are vacant, either because they are in the process of being sold and therefore waiting for a buyer, or because they are looking for a tenant. This project takes place in this very specific spot, it acts as an intermediary between flat owners and people in need. The tool has a particular sensibility for women living in precarity situations.
Every time a home owner is available to host a person in trouble our tool can be used. Home owners or managers can list their properties themseves or can have the suggestion to do so from their p2p renting platform.
In any accomodation listed on airbnb or other online rental platform.
Each flat rental or sale management platform. For example, airbnb, century21, estate agencies in general. The idea is to propose to the landlord to make his property useful during periods of transition and search for tenants by proposing the property to associations of help for women in difficulty.
Offer a direct link between the P2P renting platforms and people in need. This could take the form of a web pop-up on the platform, which will react according to the user's path. The idea of this web integration is to put the owners directly in touch with the aid associations. Pop-ups are integrated directly into platforms such as Airbnb and real estate agencies.
When the user enters his appartment or houses, a pop-up appears and offers to help women in difficult situations. If the user is agree, he's invited to complete a formular in order to be part of the programm et share his information with an association. If he want to know more, the pop-up explain briefly the model.
These are images to describe our projects and what it links to in our heads in this first phase.
These images are associated to the notion of welcome, community and solidarity while staying in the "temporary accomodation" scope.

Many charities act to offer accomodations to women and other person in need but offer extensions of renting websites to do so. No private businesses offer such services without the help and the infrastructure of charities that do that full-time.
Fédération Nationale Solidarité Femmes is a French association that grew out of the feminist movement to combat violence against women. The FNSF manages the phone number 3919.
